End of Summer and a look towards Fall

Can't believe it's August! As usual, Summer flies by way too fast. It's already time to start thinking about all the projects you want to start this Fall.

LAST OF SUMMER

Last chance - The Northern Ontario Yarn Crawl ends at the end of August. If you're hitting the road for one last hurrah, grab a postcard and stop in at as many LYSes as you can. Three stamps will get you entered into our draw. If you're done travelling, stop in and drop off your postcard anytime.
August 1st - Our latest Toque Kits will be available in store starting Thursday, August 1st. The pattern is called the Beeswax Hat. It's a fun knit done with little cables. Instructions are included to do them without a cable needle. There will be Standard and Luxury Kits available. Stop by to pick out the right colour for you or someone else.

And, don't forget to stop by our Ravelry thread and share your pictures.

Summer Sale - Our Summer Sale will be wrapping up soon as this season comes to a close. Customers have made a good dent in clearing some space for the new Fall yarns that will be arriving shortly. Make sure to stop in soon to get your hands on what's left.

TAKING A LOOK AT FALL

Knit-A-Long - We're doing our first ever Joint Knit-A-Long this Fall with two other fabulous yarn shops - The Match Factory in New Liskeard and McKnitterson's in North Bay. The theme is sweaters (you can choose whatever one you want). The KAL will run September to November. We're planning to meet every other week. More details will be coming as soon as we get everything worked out.

If you are interested, stop in so we can chat about patterns and yarns. Sweater quantities of yarn are usually special order, so now is a good time to get it in with our Fall stuff arriving soon.

Heel Classes - Are you stuck in a rut with your socks? Do you knit the same pattern over and over? Time to try a new heel! Sweet Yarns is adding Heel Classes to our course list. Currently we have a short row heel and a fleegle heel planned. As we don't have dates picked yet, please stop in or contact the store for more information and get your name on the list. We will contact you when a date is picked, and a private lesson can be booked if the date doesn't work for you.

Cast On/Bind Off Classes - Don't shy away from a pattern just because you don't know how to cast it on or bind it off. Sweet Yarns will be offering some classes this Fall to help you start or finish your projects. Now is a great time to start picking out patterns and yarn to get ready for when the courses will be available. Dates coming soon, or a private lesson can be booked if the date doesn't work for you.

Private Lessons
- We realize that our Saturday morning class hours don't work for everyone and sometimes they fill up too fast and you don't get in. You can always book a private lesson (at the same cost) at a time that works better for you. We also have a list of past courses that are always available to be taught again should you want to try something new or need a refresher. Stop by to get our handout and book your next lesson.
We had a great time at our yarn tasting event last week. Those that were here got to check out the six new yarns from Berroco. Now we're not getting all of them but a few will be arriving this September. If you want to check out the samples and some new patterns, we've got them available at the desk. In the mean time, we'll be getting in some of our usual favourites and start filling up the shelves again shortly.
